Cross matching or Issue of blood is allowed only for the units that have passed the serological tests. Software does not allow Issue of expired blood unit
Software provides interface for the authorized user to specify the lifetime of whole blood and blood-components. This is used to automatically calculate the expiry date of each unit in stock
Software provides digital archival, backup and restore facility. The user is prompted for the period to backup and the related data is extracted, compressed and saved with appropriate name in the backup folder. Similarly, user may restore backed-up data from secondary storage or backup folder to the main database with an option to overwrite data for the concerned period
The software has built-in security system that maintains a user database with levels assigned to them to ensure restricted access of the system modules and menu options

Prohibits cross match or issue of the blood unit that has failed any one the serological tests
Checks the expiry date of the blood unit or component before issue
Permits component separation only on the units marked for the purpose
At the Issue stage, the software filters units having the same Blood Group and Rh-Factor that is mentioned in the Requisition
4. Special Features
The software provides the flexibility for simultaneous conduct of Group test, serological tests and component separation. However, debars cross matching or issue of those components, till all tests are cleared
The software can handle Requisitions having multiple units of different/same blood group. This would be particularly useful in case of bulk requisition
The software also handles partial issue of blood units. This is particularly useful in cases where requisition is for babies, who require small quantity. In such cases, multiple issues are made from the same unit to avoid exposure of the baby to multiple donors.
The software maintains database of Thalassemia patients, for quick handling of requisition and tracking transfusion to the samples
